Our Staff

YDC employs a number of professionals that come from a teaching or youth and community work background. Each and every one of our employees are required to act in a manner which creates and builds confidence in the young people that we work with as well as the many agencies that we come into contact with. Above all, our desire is to safeguard the interests of the individual young people, and to work with parents and extended families as well as networks under the umbrella of working with other agencies in partnership.

The individuals we employ include GCSE qualified teachers, youth workers, community workers and trained Key Workers. Each individual is accountable for his or her actions and in the interests of good professional conduct will:

  • Always act in a manner that promotes the well-being and interest of the child or young person they are assigned to
  • Ensure that no omission on his or her part or within the sphere of influence is detrimental to the safety or well being of a young person
  • Work in a manner that is respectful and professional towards colleagues, other professionals and the young people we work with
  • Will respect issues of confidentiality obtained in the course of their work and refrain from disclosing personal information about a student or colleague that may jeopardise safe standards of practice
  • Have regard to work loads and the pressures of colleges on young people and take appropriate action if this constitutes abuse of an individual or young person
  • Be vigilant in the upkeep of on-site establishments to demonstrate responsibility as a valued member of staff and to show positive role models to the young people who come into contact with YDC
